Quick start Monitorpack SNMP

Monitorpack SNMP requires minimal configuration to meet Microsoft security criteria. Just follow these few steps.



With Monitorpack SNMP, you can monitor the server or PC on which it is installed. You can also monitor anything on the same network with an IP address from this single server or PC. You can combine these configurations based on your infrastructure.

  • Monitoring in an Active Directory forest.

  • Monitoring in a DMZ or a workgroup.


  • Download the latest version of Monitorpack SNMP from the Downloads page

  • Certain UAC levels or certain GPOs prevent the creation of the shortcut with the run as administrator right level, it is therefore necessary to modify it manually as follows: Once Monitorpack SNMP is installed, you must modify the shortcut SNMP Monitorpack present on the Windows desktop as follows: Click right > Properties > [Compatibility] tab > check the Run box this program as administrator in Privilege level > click OK.

  • Don't forget to start the Windows services "Monitorpack SNMP Engine" & "Monitorpack SNMP WatchDog" then Windows services will start automatically.


During the deployment of Monitorpack SNMP, a script is executed to upgrade the SQL firewall rules of the local machine for TCP ports 1433 and 1434.

During the deployment of Monitorpack SNMP, a script is executed to upgrade the SMTP firewall rules of the local machine for TCP ports 25, 465, and 587.


Monitorpack SNMP handles all messaging systems. The minimum requirement is to allow ports 25, 587, or 465 based on your messaging system from the Monitorpack Guard machine to the outside in order to send email alerts.

During the deployment of Monitorpack SNMP, a script is executed to upgrade the firewall rules of the local machine. Regarding your network equipment, you may also need to allow your company's routers to send emails from this machine to the outside.
